When I was a little kid (this is going back to the 1960s, mkay?) the office where my dad worked had this humungous machine that took up half a room. It hummed, it buzzed, it stank, it blinked… and it also made photocopies.
Guess what someone tacked on the wall nearest to it? That notice!!! I don’t think I’ve seen it anywhere since.

I wouldn’t be surprised if it came out around the WW2. I’m sure there’s a geek site out there somewhere with the answer.
