… well, not really. Yet. But there is certainly a little something something in the air, if you know what I mean. And I think because of the whole six-months-of-winter in Northern Europe thing, Germans really get into spring in a big way. All with the daffodils and walking in the park in gumboots and such. Even the German word for spring, Frühling, sounds all gay (NOT THAT KIND!) and merry. Like a frolic through a field.
And of course there are all kinds of wonderful German compound nouns to do with spring: Frühlingsgefühl (spring fever), frühlingshaft (spring-ish), and Frühlingsbote (I guess, erm… herald of spring?)
The biggest Frühlingsbote for me is when I look out the window and see little Hans splashing in the puddles from the Frühlingsregen, and knowing that baby birds and green leaves and sun are all just around the corner (fingers crossed!).
