Get some Irish in you!

Learn languages - bab.la language quiz

St. Patrick’s day is coming up, and I was surprised to learn that this O most holy of days is not celebrated (widely) in Germany. So, Deutschies and Ausländer alike, brush up on the Eire with this nifty quiz (which must have been written by someone super cool).

  2. @Ian: Well, I don’t know. Although there is no (potato) dearth of Irish pubs here in HH, so I’ll likely be celebrating my heritage by imbibing a pint of Guinness and some of the national food (in pommes form, of course) in one of those fine establishments!

  3. Hey ya!!!

Just found your comment on my website and been exploring your site since! We’re really doing the same in the opposite way.. fantastic stuff. And not enough… you’re living in my favorite city in Germany. Even though I only spent a couple of days in Hamburg every so often I’d love to live there at some stage. You’re probably on your way to becoming a Fischkopp already??? :)

    Anyways, have a great day!!

  5. @ emanuele
The correct German term for “abortion” is “Abtreibung”.
“Abort” is a rather colloquial and oldfashioned term for “toilet”.

  6. the right word in german for abortion is “Abtreibung” or more formally “Schwangerschaftsabbruch”.
But I don’t recall that we have the word “abort” as a German word here.

  7. Abort is the biological and medical term for a baby that didn’t survive pregnancy.
