Sister Cities: The Update

Remember last week when I was joking about towns seeking partners on an online personals site? Well, it exists! And here’s the link!

My favourite is Coventry, Rhode Island, which makes sure it doesn’t get lost amongst all the other Coventrys of the world with: “There are a number of Coventrys in the US. This is Coventry, Rhode Island, and there is information on the town at www.town.coventry.ri.us/profile . Coventry has links in England, Germany and France.”

There’s also an Italian town cheeky enough to suggest it might win the America’s Cup. Not likely.

But these ‘personals’ are only for New Zealand… I wonder if they exist for other countries?

  1. wonderful… especially all the provincial Chinese cities: e.g. Honghu is mentioning that it is a “small” city with 870,000 inhabitants in 1993 (wikipedia tells me: 335.618 or more people and 907.162 for the district)… really tiny ;)
    So I guess for every European sister city the inhabitant ratio to its chinese sister is 1:10?
